US passport photos are 2×2 inches (600×600 pixels at 300 DPI). The head must be 1 to 1⅜ inches from chin to crown. Plain white or off-white background required.

The US State Department rejects non-compliant photos, delaying passport processing which already takes weeks. Photo booths often get dimensions wrong.
