The full YouTube banner is large but only the centered safe area (1546×423) is guaranteed visible everywhere. Layout discipline matters more than raw image size.

A banner that looks balanced on desktop can lose its title, logo, or CTA on mobile if important content sits too close to the edges.

Oversized text, edge-aligned logos, and focal points disappear when the banner is cropped for narrower screens. It feels broken even if dimensions are technically correct.

Best practices

Use the crop intentionally
