LinkedIn article cover images display at the top of long-form posts and as preview cards in the feed. The 1200×644 format gives a slightly taller canvas than standard post images.

Articles without cover images get significantly less engagement. A strong cover pulls readers in from the feed preview card.

Missing or poorly sized covers result in generic placeholder thumbnails that make articles look unfinished and easy to skip.

Use the crop intentionally

• Include a visual hook that complements the article headline.
• Keep the image relevant to the content — stock photo filler undermines credibility.
• The bottom portion may be partially overlapped by the article title on some layouts.
